"Colour and light is of central in importance to my work. It is my hope that this universal language makes my work accessible and will prove a joyful catalyst for long term engagement. The matter of subject is where relevant a narrative for my paintings. I am inspired by Stanley Spencer, Paul Nash, Ivon Hitchens and Howard Hodgkin and as you might expect I am profoundly influenced by Van Gogh and Matisse and other wonderful artists of the school of Gustav Moreau."

We all have spaces that mean so much to us. I paint the landscape that I know and love. It's meaning to me is implicit to my work. We are all a part of the landscapes we inhabit and my paintings emit the emotional intensity of the experience of painting this landscape.

The sheer variety of our climate and our spectacular cloudscapes perhaps explains our national obsession with the weather and goes some way to explain our interest in something that can have such a profound influence on our mood and wellbeing .

Completely captivating, the sunlight refracts and distorts light as it’s welcoming heat radiates through the cool morning air. Rapid changes in light are joyous as cool darker hues give way to the powerful intensity of colour and warmth. For all painters, retaining a clean palette and a refined harmony of colour is one of the great challenges of painting a sunrise. This painting conveys the impression of the effect that such a sunrise has and the joy a new day brings when the warmth and light flood into our lives.

Reflection is a powerful visual metaphor for how we look at our past our present and our future. At times shadows are cast on all of our lives as we transcend darkness. As a river collects silt, we carry our experiences along with us. Our life's journey is a story that can be enjoyed by those we hold most dear. For these reasons my paintings are visually literal and possess a narrative that tells a story which can be easily seen through the intense colour of my work.
We love our customers, so feel free to get in touch and come and see the paintings.
